Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT)
at
Reinforcement Unlimited

We at Reinforcement Unlimited are very excited to be hosting Dr. Douglas Woods on Tuesday, December 14th for a 4 hour training session on a new evidence-based behavioral approach for managing Tic Disorders and Tourette Syndrome - Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT).

The Tourette Syndrome Association (TSA) is in the seventh year of a partnership with the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) to provide education professionals nationwide.  The emphasis is on diagnosing and treating Tourette Syndrome (TS).  TSA has graciously agreed to partner with us at Reinforcement Unlimited, LLC to bring Douglas Woods, Ph.D., of the University of  Wisconsin, Milwaukee to Woodstock to lead this important training.

Tested in two parallel multi-site randomized clinical trials, the CBIT procedures combine elements of habit reversal training with psychoeducation and function-based behavioral interventions.   Dr. Woods is one of the Principle Investigators of the National Institute of Mental Health - funded studies and will conduct the sessions.  All programs are free of charge.

Douglas Woods, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Psychology and Director of Clinical Training at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. Dr. Woods is a member of the Tourette Syndrome Association (TSA) Medical Advisory Board and the Clinical Trials Consortium. His main interest is assessing and treating tic disorders, trichotillomania, and other OCD-spectrum disorders in children and adults. He has published more than 120 scientific articles, presented more than 127 papers at National and International Meetings, and is the author/editor of 8 books.

Participants will benefit from:

  • Authoritative information on TS and its common co-occurring conditions, the impact of environmental events on tics, and the research data supporting the CBIT treatment intervention;
  • Detailed description and examples of the behavioral treatment protocol used in CBIT;
  • A free copy of the newly published CBIT treatment manual and a comprehensive CD-DVD featuring practice parameters, important published papers, and useful videos;
  • The opportunity to be added to TSA’s physician and allied professional state referral lists.

Seating is limited and available to those engaged in direct provision of therapy services to people effected by Tics, Tourettes, and related disorders.

Please Contact Reinforcement Unlimited to discuss your interest in attending this important, free training opportunity.

Support for education and outreach programs was made possible (in part) by the cooperative agreement award number 1U38DD000727-01 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
