Our Aspergers Clinic offers a
range of services:
-
Assessment: Dr.
Montgomery is a licensed psychologist with a wealth of differential
diagnostic experience who has taught psychological assessment and
evaluation courses at several universities to doctoral candidates.
Our evaluations are comprehensive and focus on both diagnostic clarity and
solid and practical recommendations to assist in improving the life of the
person immediately.
-
Individual Therapy: Occasionally
people with AS, like everyone else, encounter problems that exceed their
current skills and resources. Traditional psychotherapy that focuses
on emotional processing, early life experiences, and other
"touchy-feely" methods of doing therapy have consistently failed
to help people with AS. Again, as with our Group Therapy,
Cognitive-Behavior Therapy is the best supported and most efficient method
for working on problems with people with AS. Drs. Montgomery are
each Board Certified Behavior Analysts and Certified Cognitive
Therapists. This unique combination of training is ideally suited to
assisting AS people.
-
Social
Skills Groups: Our clinic
offers group therapy focusing on several issues for AS patients. In
addition to a social skills group solely for AS people, we offer both
Anxiety and Anger group therapy for people with Aspergers Syndrome.
These specialty groups are conducted using Cognitive-Behavior Therapy,
which has nearly all the research support available for use with people
with AS.
-
Tutorials:
Our staff have unique qualifications for working with students with
Aspergers Syndrome. Each of our tutors has training beyond their
original training as a teacher. We support our tutors in a variety
of areas related to Aspergers and social skills that gives them an
advantage in working with your child. Students with Aspergers
Syndrome often have difficulties in one or more academic areas that extend
beyond merely social issues or a manifestation of their Aspergers
"quirkiness". When there is an issue with an academic area
we can provide tutoring by trained teachers to support your child's
progress in school.
-
Workshops: We have
conducted workshops at our clinic for professionals, parents, and school
staff since we opened our clinic. In addition, we have offered our
workshops on Aspergers to school and agency staff by traveling to their
agencies over the years and continue to offer this option for
training. Our workshops focus on the unique presentation of AS,
diagnostic issues, developmental concerns, and research supported
effective treatments for various issues commonly presented by people with
AS.
If we can be of any assistance in
any way please contact
us at your convenience.

information on Aspergers Syndrome is on our pages devoted to providing
