Evaluations for possible Autism
should not be scheduled months away. When you suspect that your child may
have signs of an Autism Spectrum Disorder you want a comprehensive evaluation As
Soon As Possible - any parent would. Reinforcement
Unlimited offers A.S.A.P. to meet your need for a
comprehensive evaluation. Whether you are concerned about possible
traditional Autism or you suspect that your child may have Aspergers Syndrome we are here
to help you and your child.
According the Greater
Georgia Chapter of the Autism Society of America "... the Georgia
Medical Care Foundation wants psychological testing to document the child’s
disability." for all developmental disabilities, including Pervasive
Developmental Disorder, Autistic
Disorder and others. Additionally, the "Georgia Medical Care
Foundation requires that a PhD sign the psychological." Unlike most other sources of evaluations you
and your child will be seen only by our Doctoral-level staff. A diagnostic
evaluation is a complex and very important process, that is why we do not use
clerks, students, or assistants to administer tests or evaluate your child
during the diagnostic process. You and your child will work with Drs.
Robert and Christine Montgomery during the diagnostic evaluation process.
Most psychological evaluations focus
on Development History, Intellectual ability, Motor skills, Language and
Communications skills, and possibly Academic Achievement if your child is of
school-age. A licensed psychologist, just like a physician, can make the
diagnosis of Autism or an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Their diagnosis can be
used to help establish eligibility for services through various agencies,
including the public schools. However, most psychologists are not trained
as behavior analysts and so they make a diagnosis and you are still left with
the single most important question of your life: How do we help our child?
Behavior Analysts are trained in
behavioral assessments which look at the function of behaviors for the person in
their environments. They conduct assessments like Functional Behavioral
Assessments, ABLLS-R (Assessment of
Basic Language and Learning Skills-Revised), and
other behavioral evaluations. They provide you with a set of
recommendations and a tailored intervention to address your
child's specific communication and social skills needs. However, they can not
provide you with a diagnosis nor with a report that will satisfy either
disability agencies or the schools.
A.S.A.P. provides you
with the best of both of these worlds because Dr. Robert Montgomery is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist
who is legally entitled to make diagnoses and a Board Certified Behavior
Analyst . Contact
us immediately to arrange for a comprehensive evaluation of your child As
Soon As Possible.
